IT WAS SERENDIPITY

I had invested 5 years doing salon and spa equipment repairs like massage tables, pedicure chairs, hydrotherapy baths, face machines, along with plumbing, electrical, and general repairs at salons in the Chicago area.

In 2007, I created my own website, and called it “AllSpaRepair.com”

I was always under the impression that a spa was a place you go to to get pampered with massage, pedicure, and other services. However, I soon found out that much of the general public thinks that a spa is a hot tub in your yard. I will never forget the first customer that called for a hot tub repair. She said “my spa needs service,” and I said, “Where is your spa?” and she said, “It’s in my yard...” So at this moment, I’m thinking, “What a wonderful idea; She has a dozen women in her yard getting a natural tan and getting their hair and nails done, and perhaps one of the pedicure chairs is broken." It was rather amusing to discover that she was talking about her hot tub. Rather than turn down the opportunity, I told her that although I had never fixed a hot tub, I could probably figure it out. I had handyman experience, appliance repair experience, and some salon equipment is much more complicated than a hot tub. I had the time and the tools, why not? I did figure it out and before long I realized that most of my calls were for hot tub repairs. It was serendipity. I was looking for more salon business and discovered a great demand for hot tub repairs. I’ve been repairing one or two hot tubs a day on average since then. I have also been forced to get my foster son Sam and brother Mark to help out with the demand. As of today, Christmas 2011 I must have repaired over 1,200 tubs!
