Jetted Tub Repairs

Jetted tubs, Whirlpool Bathtubs, Jacuzzi tubs

There are 3 repairs that I do most often on Jetted tubs, usually located in a master bathroom.

  1. Air button
This button pushes air through a 1/4’ tube to a switch inside the motor. Push it once to turn on tub, push it again to turn off tub. It costs about $25, and I have several in my van at all times.
  2. Air switch
This switch is located inside the pump motor, and requires pulling the pump out, taking motor apart, and replacing the internal switch. It also costs $25, and is usually done in 1 hour.
  3. GFCI outlet
Most tubs since the 1990’s, have the pump mounted in the cabinet underneath the tub. The pump is simply plugged into a standard 20 amp GFCI outlet inside the cabinet. This is the same type of outlet you see next to your bath or kitchen sink, with with test and reset button on the face. These outlets often fail, or just need to be reset, and your tub is working again.

ELECTRONIC CONTROLS

There are tubs that use electronic controls which are much more expensive and difficult to repair. The switch is electronic. There is a circuit board inside the motor with a timer, or a separate control box that can control the pump, lights, heat and other things. I have worked on almost every brand, such as, Trajet, Oasis, Neptune,Kohler, Jacuzzi, Maax, and others. It might be expensive, but not nearly as costly as a new tub. Sometimes we just remove all the fancy electronic stuff and install a simple on/off button like most people have and avoid all that expense.

LEAKS

The most common leak is the genuine Jacuzzi brand tub with 2’ small jets that crack over time because they were never built thick enough. Fortunately, we have an ingenious and fast easy fix for that. It involves gluing in a new jet face over the old one, which doubles the thickness of the cracked part. It does not require removing panels or walls to get access, or replacing jets or pipes. If it's just one cracked jet, it costs just $225 and done in an hour. This is the 2024 price, which may go up a bit in the future, but still very reasonable..

Other tubs may need a pump seal replaced or have leaky joints or more difficult repairs. If I can’t do it, nobody can.
